We are explorers. We are scholars. We are dreamers. We are doers. We are proud members of the University of Montana family. Welcome to the den. When I returned to Missoula, I rediscovered the same vibrant and accepting community I had previously left; however, race relations in our country had become a hotly debated issue.

Police brutality against Blacks seemed to have escalated - individuals of all walks of life had started recording the murders of Black people at the hands of police officers. Through working toward my BA in Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies, to serving on student government, to now working toward my Master in Public Administration - I have met some of the most caring and passionate people on the planet.

We are a community close to nature that originally served as the base for my work in the woods. Now this unique place is the base for my research into how our planet works.

I have accessible coworkers that are inspiring experts in many fields relevant to my work, but I can also walk out my door and take a beautiful hike when I need an occasional break. Our students at UM have a great opportunity to learn about Indigenous knowledge and ethnobotany from our Native American neighbors and friends within the Environmental Studies Program. The love and excitement that they had about their experiences and studies really inspired me. Everyone is so kind and happy to get their coffee from us.

I not only have great guests but an amazing staff that works at each coffee shop. I feel so lucky to have so many talented and hardworking students that work with me. Are You Tomorrow Proof? Free inquiry and free expression within the academic community are indispensable to the achievement of these goals. The freedom to teach and to learn depends upon the creation of appropriate conditions and opportunities on the campus as a whole as well as in classrooms and lecture halls. All members of the academic community share the responsibility for securing and sustaining the general conditions conducive to this freedom. The primary purposes of regulations and discipline in a university are to protect the well-being of the community and to advance its educational mission by defining and establishing certain norms of behavior.

At Princeton, disciplinary proceedings have a role that is subordinate to positive guidance, rational admonition, and reasonable appeal to members of the University to observe its stated norms. The disciplinary system establishes procedures for a fair hearing, including advising individuals fully of the charges against them, affording them ample opportunity to speak on their behalf, and requiring a clear explanation of their rights of appeal.

Disciplinary proceedings are instituted only for violations of standards of conduct defined in advance and published, or for actions that can be reasonably deduced as violations in light of those specifically defined as such. Regulations governing the conduct of members of the University community will be revised only after deliberations in which representatives of the appropriate groups are invited to participate.

Since rigid codification and relentless administration of rules and regulations are not appropriate to an academic community, the rules and policy statements that follow serve mainly to clarify commonly accepted standards of conduct within the University. The ability of the University to achieve its purposes depends upon the quality and integrity of the academic work that its faculty, staff, and students perform.

Academic freedom can flourish only in a community of scholars which recognizes that intellectual integrity, with its accompanying rights and responsibilities, lies at the heart of its mission.

1. University-wide Regulations

Observing basic honesty in one's work, words, ideas, and actions is a principle to which all members of the community are required to subscribe. See sections under 2. Because the University is committed to free and open inquiry in all matters, it guarantees all members of the University community the broadest possible latitude to speak, write, listen, challenge, and learn. Of course, the ideas of different members of the University community will often and quite naturally conflict.

But it is not the proper role of the University to attempt to shield individuals from ideas and opinions they find unwelcome, disagreeable, or even deeply offensive.

Although the University greatly values civility, and although all members of the University community share in the responsibility for maintaining a climate of mutual respect, concerns about civility and mutual respect can never be used as a justification for closing off discussion of ideas, however offensive or disagreeable those ideas may be to some members of our community. The freedom to debate and discuss the merits of competing ideas does not, of course, mean that individuals may say whatever they wish, wherever they wish.

The University may restrict expression that violates the law, that falsely defames a specific individual, that constitutes a genuine threat or harassment, that unjustifiably invades substantial privacy or confidentiality interests, or that is otherwise directly incompatible with the functioning of the University. In addition, the University may reasonably regulate the time, place, and manner of expression to ensure that it does not disrupt the ordinary activities of the University.

It is for the individual members of the University community, not for the University as an institution, to make those judgments for themselves, and to act on those judgments not by seeking to suppress speech, but by openly and vigorously contesting the ideas that they oppose. Although members of the University community are free to criticize and contest the views expressed on campus, and to criticize and contest speakers who are invited to express their views on campus, they may not obstruct or otherwise interfere with the freedom of others to express views they reject or even loathe.

To this end, the University has a solemn responsibility not only to promote a lively and fearless freedom of debate and deliberation, but also to protect that freedom when others attempt to restrict it. This statement was originally drafted and adopted by the University of Chicago and was adopted by the Faculty of Princeton University at its meeting of April 6, Princeton University is a community devoted to learning.

We actively seek students, faculty, and staff of exceptional ability and promise who share in our commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship, and who will bring a diversity of viewpoints and cultures. By incorporating a broad range of human experiences and a rich variety of human perspectives, we enlarge our capacity for learning, enrich the quality and texture of campus life, and better prepare for life and leadership in a pluralistic society.

As a community, we respect the dignity, individuality, and freedom of each member. At the same time, we strive to be a place where individuals and groups learn with and from each other.

We aim to foster a sense of shared experience and common purpose, along with a collective responsibility for each other's well-being and for the well-being of the University as a whole. Although we acknowledge the difficulties inherent in creating a community of individuals who are different from each other, we remain unwavering in our commitment to both diversity and community in a context of academic excellence. We seek to enable all members of this community to pursue their educational, scholarly, and career interests in an environment that recognizes both the distinctiveness of each person's experience and the common humanity that unites us all, and permits us to take full educational advantage of the variety of talents, backgrounds, and perspectives of those who live and work here.

All members of the University community are expected to be honest and straightforward in their dealings with University processes, policies, activities, and personnel. This obligation includes honoring contracts and agreements and providing accurate information on official forms and documents as well as to official University personnel, offices, and committees. Deliberate violations of this provision will be considered serious offenses; subsequent violations, or systematic violations in the first instance, will be considered extremely serious.

Members of the University community are expected to cooperate fully in the disciplinary process, and anyone whether a party or a witness who refuses to cooperate may be subject to discipline. Failing to respond to multiple attempts by an administrator to contact or meet with a member of the University community may be considered a refusal to cooperate. This article assesses a classification tool for categorizing emergency department visits as emergent and nonemergent. Reliable measures of emergency department ED use are important for studying ED utilization and access to care. Using diagnosis codes, we applied the EDA to classify ED visits into emergent, intermediate, and nonemergent categories and studied associations of emergent status with hospital mortality and hospital admissions.

We used a nationally representative sample of patients with visits to hospital-based EDs from repeated cross sections of the National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey from to We performed survey-weighted logistic regression analyses, adjusting for year and patient demographic and socioeconomic characteristics, to estimate the association of emergent ED visits with the probability of hospital mortality or hospital admission.

The EDA measure of emergent visits was significantly and positively associated with mortality odds ratio [OR]: 3. This analysis assessed the NYU algorithm in measuring emergent and nonemergent ED use in the general population. Emergent classification based on the algorithm was strongly and significantly positively associated with hospitalization and death in a nationally representative population. The algorithm can be useful in studying ED utilization and evaluating policies that aim to change it.

Emergency departments EDs are a critical component of the healthcare system, but face growing demand and often have inadequate capacity.

For example, some health insurance plans and state Medicaid programs have implemented or increased ED copayments in recent years. Researchers require reliable tools for classifying emergent and nonemergent ED use in order to evaluate policies and initiatives designed to improve access to primary care and reduce nonemergent use.

Application of these methods to assess changes in access and reliance on EDs will become even more salient after implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act inwhen much of the population will gain health insurance coverage and the number of publicly insured individuals will increase dramatically.

To this end, we assessed a tool for categorizing ED visits as emergent, by applying each visit to a nationally representative sample of ED visits and testing its strength as a predictor of hospital admission and mortality.

The EDA is based on a full chart review, using information on patient complaints, symptoms, vital signs, diagnoses, procedures, and ED resource use in order to determine the emergent nature of ED visits. A previous study evaluated the EDA using data on commercial and Medicare patients from an integrated delivery system from toand found that patients classified as having an emergent visit under the EDA were more likely to be hospitalized within 1 day or to die within 30 days than were patients with visits classified as nonemergent.

Recent research has also shown significant changes in the demographics of ED patients over the past decade, so previous results may be outdated. This study improves on previous research in a number of ways.

We used the same criteria to assess the EDA as the previous study, but improve on it by using it in a nationally representative sample of all insurance groups in order to examine its generalizability to the US population, while previous research focused on privately insured and Medicare populations in a managed care context. Finally, we used several years of more recent data—from to —while the previous study used data from to Similar to previous work, we examined the association between EDA categorization and hospital mortality or hospital admission, controlling for observed patient demographic and socioeconomic factors.

We used a nationally representative sample of visits to hospital-based EDs at noninstitutional, general, and short-stay hospitals excluding Federal, military, and Veterans Administration hospitals located in the 50 states and the District of Columbia, from repeated cross sections of the to National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey NHAMCS.

EDs within hospitals were randomly selected using a 4-stage probability design and surveyed over a randomly selected 4-week period each year.

I spent a year investigating the tout industry and discovered the same old racket, wrapped in sophisticated-looking, digital-era packaging. In private, Bell seems to tell a different story. If you came across RJ Bell on ESPN or glanced at the cover of The New York Times Magazine a few years ago, you would find no reason to question his credibility.

Go to Pregame, and you only find winning records. But running a tout service is an ongoing sleight of hand, beginning with those records. The real world is getting ignored. And touts, because of the fees they charge for picks, have to be even more successful than that to make their clients money in the long run.

Bell demands that Pregame customers trust him on this. Bell loves to say that every pick ever sold on Pregame is archived and available for review. This is ostensibly true, but to access results older than 30 days requires clicking through a calendar, day by day, and entering CAPTCHA codes for each one.

Before long you find yourself in an infinite CAPTCHA loop, unable to continue, blocked from any attempts to tabulate the hard evidence. Two real-world bettors, one of whom is a former financial analyst in his late 20s who is highly regarded by oddsmakers, developed a script to scrape Pregame.

You can view and download a spreadsheet containing all the data, including every single Pregame pick dating back to Jan. It is a large file and may take several minutes to open. Based on full record of Pregame picks. The data covers 49 touts who sold their plays during this period (not including those whose existences have been completely expunged from the archives, like David Glisan, Mike Hook, and Stan Sharp), and of those 49, only 11 of them showed a profit.

Of those gains, most were marginal and would be wiped out by standard fees. Flipping a coin would have been a more cost-effective strategy. Based on full record of Pregame picks plus standard per-pick prices. His touts, he claims, win 55 percent of the time.

Such a strike rate would be a license to print money. Bell is smart enough to understand that shouting about winning records of 75-90 percent, as some barrel-bottom touts do, would only garner ridicule. It tells you something that for all their supposed professionalism, touts still use aliases. At Pregame, the big ones go by names like Fezzik, Goodfella, Spartan, Sleepyj, VegasButcher, and King Creole. In July 2014, Bell patted himself on the back when he announced on Pregame a new standard for his touts: They had to publicly provide their real name and a signed declaration declaring any past legal troubles.

As touts bounce from site to site, sometimes under different names, there really is no way to determine their true track records. Touts plug away despite columns of red, all the while advertising useless cherry-picked short-term streaks or outright falsified ones. Like most touts, Coach sold picks in a few places. We had zero stress our whole trip as a result of excellent forethought, planning and distribution of the information needed for our trip.

Also the tips marked on the map about food, sightseeing things etc were a gold mine. We used the travel guide with sightseeing locations and suggestions from all the staff on our entire drive throughout Iceland and it added to our experience tenfold. It really was the trip of a lifetime and it was all thanks to Sirry and the wonderful staff at Nordic Visitor.

I can't thank you enough for your help. The tours were amazing and the ease of planning the trip was wonderful. You gave us a trip if a lifetime and memories to cherish. We were blown away by the service.

Emergency Department Visit Classification Using the NYU Algorithm

The champagne and chocolates was a nice touch, too. Everything was communicated very efficiently, and with total transparency. Nothing to regret, even if we had to cut it short by a day of driving, we wouldn't have changed a thing about our visit.

This was my second time to Iceland, first time with Nordic Visitor, and it most definitely won't be our last (on both accounts). We were actually looking at other tours from Nordic Visitor, while driving back into Reykjavik.

We both want to do the ring road, eventually, and we will definitely be booking with Nordic Visitor again. Really appreciated the smaller size walking and bus tours, were more intimate and accessible. All the tour guides were knowledgeable, friendly, and competent. Made us feel welcome and we could relax and enjoy the scenery and learn about the country. Would definitely use Nordic Visitor in future.

The tour guides were excellent. Especially Emile and Maurice. This was a huge adventure for us both, starting with the dog sled picking us upgoing to the Ice Hotel and then the fabulous evening on the snowmobile. Even though we weren't lucky enough to see the Northern Lights, it was still wonderful.

What good cooks all the guides were too. I will never forget this experience. This was our first time booking with a tour company, and it was a wonderful experience overall. I would definitely recommend Nordic Visitor to anyone looking for a trip. One of the best short get-aways I have ever done.
